Sunday was spent at Tlaxcala, a town just an hour bus ride away. Bus tickets are only SGD$2.20 each way.
It's a small town, rather sleepy and quiet, and one can easily finish walking around in a day, if you don't intend to visit the archeological sites.
The whole town is decorated with the colours of the Mexican flag for the upcoming independence day.

An arts and music school we stumbled upon. Spot the taco uncle that I bought SGD$1 tacos from.
Stumbled into the mercado, and guess what we found?! SEAFOOD. Oh so rare, seafood. They sold these seafood soup for just SGD $7, and it contains prawn, shrimps, clams, crab and ABALONE. Like seriously?! SGD$7 for this? I'm in heaven.
These stores are EVERYWHERE. Why don't we have something like this on national day in Singapore?
Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Ocotlan was our next stop after lunch. It's amazing, but was a pity we couldn't take any photos of its interior as Sunday mass was in session.
We split up to explore on our own after the long walk to Ocotlan and I returned to the Zocalo and witness this festivity! A band was playing, some of the people were dancing to salsa, a huge group of guys were cheering on their friend, who was one of the singer. It was a great atmosphere. Sleepy town no more!
Next was El Ranchero, and this was the path towards it, with towering trees on both sides, and everyone was just chilling and hanging around. Wished ed was here too.
Unfortunately the bull ring (El Ranchero) was closed. But I still got a photo, and it looks epic with the dark clouds looming in the background
At the end of the street was a chapel sitting at the top of the hill. And this is the view from the top
So on the way back to the bus station, this random dude approached me and wanted to talk/eat with me. I got freaked out and headed for the first restaurant nearby to avoid him. But he followed me in anyways. I went to the toilet, took my time, and when I came out, he was still there and he kept asking if I wanted to eat. The waiters looked on but did not helped ._. One even patted him on the shoulders. Idk as a warning or as a gesture to tell him, "Chill, bro". I had to firmly tell him, "No, i'm not interested", "Please leave", "Do not follow me", before he finally left. I stayed in the restaurant for another 10-15 mins just to be safe, and double checked the surrounding before I left. Eventually, I made it to the bus stop, alive, though slightly wet and cold from the rain.
Thinking back, I doubt the guy had ill intentions. He might have wanted to make friends, but I'm not taking any chances. Guess this is how it's like for females traveling solo. It's all part of the exchange experience, and a lesson, to teach me how to stay safe when I do travel alone in a foreign country.
