Last weekend was spent in Cuernavaca. Unlike the other trips, the focus of this trip was really on hanging out with the friends that I was traveling with. I met her during the orientation for exchange students and subsequently became classmates in Spanish class. She's an exchange student from China and have pretty much mastered Spanish have learnt it for 2 years, but not english. As such, we communicate mostly in Chinese. Which is not the most comfortable thing for me, but after these 2 days, I've improved. Ahaha

The streets of Cuernavaca

And this is my first time traveling with a friend I have only just met. Yet, it went pretty well and we chatted about everything under the sun. This is one thing I really love about exchange. The fact that it brings complete strangers from different countries, so much closer. And through my conversations with her, it really cleared up some misunderstandings I have about China people. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and company.

We left on friday afternoon and arrived in the evening, with just enough time to grab dinner and walk around the city at night

There was the artisanal market as well, which solds lots of typical mexican souvenirs

And of course there were stalls selling silver too, a local produce

The next morning, we went to the bus station immediately to get tickets to Taxco

And it's such a beautiful town! It took around 2 hrs to get there and 1.5 hrs to return

The main cathedral of Taxco. It features a really pretty dome as well (not in this photo)

The inside of the cathedral - as usual, true gold baroque.

Look at the adorable puppy. OMG. Almost melted when it ran up to play with us and snuggled in my laps

One of the features Taxco has is the beautifully paved roads and plazas.

And Taxco sits on a hill in a valley. As such, the whole terrain is really steep, not really suitable for older folks with difficulty walking

And I love how all the walls are coordinated white and roofs with brick tiles

Those plant creepers really adds a nice rustic touch to the building <3

 The Zocalo in Taxco

One of the first stops we made was to the mirador, at the highest point of the town. The walk was insane. It felt like we were scaling an urban mountain.

But of course, we were rewarded with a fabulous view. Doesn't this reminds you of Brazil?

 A little sleeping cat <3

 The arcs

And can you believe it? They actually have a cable car here! It's called the teleferico.

And it costs $190 pesos for a return trip. The ride lasts for 8 mins each way.

On the other side of Taxco, is where the rich lives and where a classy hotel is located

 Spot the giant golfball

I love to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on the balcony in the evening

And we ended the day with dinner at a restaurant near the zocalo, that gave us a beautiful view of the town. I ordered the cheapest item on the menu, a beef burger, for $65 pesos. hehe.

The next day was spent exploring the museums and sights in Cuernavaca.

The museo de popular arte - I love all the popular art museums in Mexico <3

A zoom up of a beaded robe that tells a story/legend

And we left our mark behind!

The entry of the Robert Brady Museum. It costs $40 pesos, but it is sooooo worth it.

The whole house is adorned and ornamented with art he collected throughout his life, and each one has it's own place in the house.

I love the colours in this bedroom <3 Red, orange, pink, colours of an Indian Princess

And this bedroom have strong red paired with musty yellow and green ceiling

Everything has been left in its position after his death

He believed that each art piece has its own place and the place where it is placed is part of the art as well

Omg, I want my toilet in purple next time too

There happened to be a ritual happening in town too, a traditional Azteca ritual for the Dia de Los Muertos

Located near the main cathedral of Cuernavaca. The exterior of the main cathedral is very simple and nothing eye catching (thus no photos), but the inside is beautifully simple. Unfortunately there was a celebration for a saint going on, and I didn't get a chance to get a photo

 The gardens!

Unfortunately the garden was under construction, but they still had a beautiful exhibition of this artist

And our walk around the surrounding area brought us to many unexpected areas too

Finally, we ended up with lunch here before heading back. Most value for money Meal of the Day I've had. $59 and there's free flow bread, rice, consome (soup), a main, 1 small taco, and cake for dessert. Yum yum.
