I haven't been wearing heels for a while since I met my current boyfriend (due to the small difference in our height). But that's great cos it gives my feet plenty of rest, especially since I have a high arch. Lots of girls opt for heels because it gives a slimmer look and it projects more authority at work, but I'm someone who dresses practically. Flats are the way to go, and here are some flats that can replace those ankle breaking heels.

I've taken alot of interest in brush lettering and typography recently and I recent bought this brush pen to develop this hobby.

It was only after my purchase, that I realised a whole plethora of pens exists for this craft:

Well, too late to regret my purchase. And to be honest, I have no idea which is the best pen/brush to start with and whether I made the right choice. But this brush from Art Friend cost me almost $8, so I better put it to good use.

I've been scribbling as and when I'm bored/free and it feels rather therapeutic. Here are some of my scribbles!

It ain't the best, but I think I'm doing an okay job. I've learn that there is more to brush lettering than just forming words. It's alot of putting in your own style and creating your own font.

For now, I'm still getting familiar with the brush and practicing with tumblr quotes. It's not easy given how untidy my handwriting is in real life. But the next step would be to practice a particular font, before developing my style. I'm looking forward to integrating water painting as well!

The past week has been a nightmare in terms of the amount of schoolwork and preparation (or lack thereof) for chinese new year. This year, I did not 1. buy new clothes, 2. Hang decorations, 3. Help to prepare the angbaos/ touch fresh crisp notes, 4. go to chinatown, 5. feel festive. I could not eat nor sleep well until I finished my work. This is by far, my toughest semester in school. No joke.

But regardless, I still found time to let off steam with these:

1. Tsubasa Chronicles - I finish 200+ chapters in a week. And it's more mind blowing than inception and source code. It's crazy

2. Victoria's Secret 2015 Swim Show - This is insane. Like one Victoria's Secret Show a year is not enough. I can't wait.

3. Haystakt - This is almost like kickstarter, except you pay for the goods instead of donating. Only when a certain number of people preorders it, will the item actually be made/sold. And the earlier you purchase, the lower the price gets. I got a Q&Q solar watch from them at $30+ when it first started. And it's retailing at $40 now. Ain't it awesome?

4. Piggy and polly - The instagram account of these 2 white frenchies. And I thought bulldogs were ugly before this. (What was I thinking?!)

5. Minimalistic outfits - It's all over my fashion board on Pinterest. Idk when I started developing this taste for minimalistic pieces, but I'm going crazy over it now. And this really sums it up.

4. This week, I came to terms with embarking on my student exchange alone, without my boy. It was hard to accept and the future seemed so bleak at one point. But now, I'm feel ready. To be independent and daring. Wait for me beautiful Puebla!

I had the sudden urge to revisit tavi gevison's blog having forgotten about it for years. I was a fan of her growing up as a teen and I thought her sense of fashion was really cool and unreal. It's pretty amazing how she's now in a broadway show, but it really sucked when I realised she had only had 2 new blog posts since the last time i visited.

But I found this video of a talk she gave and it sort of revived the creative and free spirited child in me, that I must have left behind when I entered university and aged into an "adult". It's such an inspiration and I thought everyone should watch it:
