Last weekend was spent at Veracruz, known for its festival in March, and as an important port for Mexico. It felt great to finally get in contact with the sun after a super cold and rainy week in Puebla due to the hurricanes. It was also awesome to see the sea, coasts and the breathe in some warm and humid air.

The beach weren't the cleanest - the sand was brownish black and the water was murky. But it was just nice to stroll along in the evening, where the sky was rainbow, which was reflected in the water too.

One of the many colonial buildings left over by the Spaniards. There's some resemblance to Singapore no?

Veracruz isn't really that famous for the aquatic life, ahaha, but it's a nice mural!

The trip was made with the people from the house, and we all stayed under one roof, like a chalet. Most of the time we were free to travel wherever individually and on the last day we visited an island just 20 minutes off the shores of Veracruz.

On route to Veracruz. We rented a small van that just managed to fit everyone. Wasn't a coach with reclinable seats but, it was bearable since the journey is only 4+hrs.

The house! We could only access the first floor, which includes the pool.

But the water wasn't really the cleanest after everyone jumped in ._.

The first day was spent walking around the Zocalo, instead of lounging by the pool with everyone else. It feels kind of anti-social, but there's plenty of opportunities to visit the swimming pool under the same weather conditions when we return to Singapore. #differencebtwsingaporeansandangmohs

The standard seafood dish in every part of Mexico. But Veracruz is by the sea, and is especially famous for seafood, so this felt mandatory. #butreallythereisnodiff

The streets here feels alot more relaxed and miami-ish no?

My favourite part of the day was really towards the end where we just walked along the coast, the breakwaters, sat and just talked. Guess this is something I probably can't enjoy when I'm travelling alone in the near future :/

Day 2 included a visit to Boca Del Rio, before going back to the Zocalo and then to the nike factory outlet store, where I managed to purchase, tights - top and bottom, sports bra, shorts, and socks for less than SGD$100. This is definitely the highlight of the day, ahahaha.

This battleship was the main reason for Boca Del Rio

When we boarded, the guide was there to help us take photos and take us around, but because our spanish sucked, we had no clue why he kept asking us to take photos and asking us to follow him.

The captain's room! Duh. The ship is pretty cool, they even have a dentist and dental equipments on board. I have alot more photos thanks to the tour guide, but this is the most representative one.

We were lucky enough to encountered these dancers filming when we exited the boat. That's one off the bucket list!

We returned to the Zocalo after, and had to get a drink to beat the heat. And this is the best place to go!

I ordered a soursop ice cream milkshake. It tasted abit strange with the first sip, but it gets really addictive after. Their coffee version is nice too.

The interior and decor of the place is excellente too! Reminds us so much of the kopitiams in Singapore.

After which, I decided to explore more of the downtown by myself, where there are more locals and vibe is less touristy.

Sadly, this area had more locals, but the buildings are more depilated, a rather stark contrast from the museum and touristy areas.

Day 3 was spent at the island, where everyone of us got sunburnt and I'm still peeling in the aftermath.

The island is really small, and the half of us that took the first round of the boat spent around just 20mins walking and exploring the whole island.

The boat that took us to the island

Most people that arrived at the island came by yatch. All these rich mexicanas.

And that's the end of Veracruz!
