Spent the first day in Mexico in a blur. Arrive at 5.45am, got to the airport hotel around 9am, took a bus to Puebla at 4pm, arrive at the hostel at 8pm, got to Walmart to get necessities at 10pm and ended the day around 12 midnight.

The mexico city's terminal 2 airport has a architectural style that was surprisingly modern yet, natural.

On route from Mexico City to Puebla. The bus took us past many fields and pastures that seems to go on and on and on.

The second day was the start of orientation, and I saw the UDLAP campus for the first time. Apparently, UDLAP is one of the best university in Mexico (the uncle at the bakery section of Walmart told me so) and their campus really signals to visitors they are up there. There lots of green everywhere, with all kinds of plants that I'll probably only see at Gardens by the Bay. The architectural style is modern infused with bits of cultural styles here and there and it just feels so good to be on campus. (Not including the fact that there is wifi!)

route taken to get to UDLAP from the hostel

the first sight we were greeted by was this huge field with beautiful beautiful grass that is so hard to find and maintain in Singapore

I settled course registration and student ID collection in the next 2 days, meeting people along the way and chatting with some of the people who's staying at the hostel. Most of the exchange students can speak spanish to a certain degree and it is indeed a disadvantage when we travel around without someone else that can speak spanish, to communicate with the locals. I've got to pick up spanish fast!

Today, the school brought us on a walking tour to the historic center of Puebla, which was really a sight, and brought back lots of memories of my Italy trip, because the building styles of the churches were really similar to the ones in Italy.

Templo De San Francisco, Barrio del Alto

streets of Puebla - I love how all the shops and houses are brightly and uniquely painted, and non conforming

One of the stalls selling tourist knick knacks and souvenirs

Along a street that is known to be a hotspot for artist on weekends. On weekdays, one can still find children engaging in art and shops selling their pieces

Mexico is full of these vintage volkswagen beetle, and I have seen them in all sorts of colours - wish I can bring one back!

The state hall, where the independence of Mexico was announced

Inside one of the largest church in Puebla, which look almost like the churches in Italy

Final stop - lunch! Almost all the buildings we have passed, used these blue and white oriental tiles as decoration

Pasta, chicken with bacon, avocado dip, spicy sea cucumber like dish

And tomorrow, we'll be exploring the street market in Puebla and the pyramid which is hidden beneath the dense foliage, visible only by the church built at its peak, and just 10mins bicycle ride away!
