Today was the last day of orientation, but we chose to opt out of the programme that cost USD$100, and instead went to visit the market and the pyramids, a.k.a, Tlachihualtepetl.

The market is about 20mins bicyle ride from La Leyenda (the hostel, I'm staying at) and is similar to Singapore's wet market. It sells lots of fruits, like avocado, pomegranate, strawberries, over riped bananas. There's also vegatables, and meat, like mexican sausages (longaniza) and mexican burger patties.

The fruits are so cheap and fresh here - divide the prices by 10 to convert to sgd approx

Roses are really common here, to think that Singapore sells a stalk for more than $5 during Valentine's

Chicken's here are yellow and they look like those rubber chicken toys that shrieks when pressed

Mexican candy! The weather is cooling enough for them to display chocolate out in the open (top right corner)

Meat store - really similar to Singapore's. We bought some pork ribs here to cook bak kut teh on National Day

We returned from the market and enjoyed the watermelon we carried back from the market, and set out again for the pyramids. The entry fee is $52 pesos, approx, SGD$5, and it grants us entry to the musuem, the tunnels dug to explore the pyramids, and the various pyramid sites. The Mexican pyramids are very different from the Egypt pyramids, with very wide bases, multiple levels and and different structures and altars at various levels.

Model of the pyramids in the musuem

Wall murals that were preserved from the pyramid sites

Entering the excavation tunnels - This was the best part, because that tunnels were so cooling compared to the heat outside

View from the peak of the pyramid

The church at the peak - the interior is as beautiful as any of the churches found in Italy. It is a pity part of it was under construction and no photographs were allowed

The existing remains of what was once a grand structure

The first level of the pyramid

Ice cream to cool off at the end of tour. Typical ice cream trucks/shops store the ice cream in tubs soaked in buckets of shaved ice, covered by cloth to protect it from the heat

And that is enough sun for the day!
